Lyre

Weee! I made a lyre! tis made of ash, thin cedar plywood, um...purpleheart or something....the purply red wood stuff...guitar strings, zither tunning pins, a dremel rotary tool and the thankful use of my dad's woodshop ^-^ it does play (amazingly) hopefully the bridge will stay on, and hopefully one of these days the strings will finish stretching and will keep a tune for more than five seconds...then i could actually officially tune the silly thing and start playing it...which'd be cool...so yes...

oh, broke 2 of the strings already too, and had to resort to ugly yellow rope connecting the tailgut to the base, as the rawhide snapped, and the leather strips continuously stretched and was bad to use to hold strings...so i'll need to go get some more strings and maybe an official tunning wrench rather than a socket wrench borrowed from yon father.

on this note, i'm going to try to make a diffenetly styled lyre for my brother for Christmas, with walnut, a snapping turtle shell (already varnished) and stretched leather...hopefully it'll turn out good, and hopefully with work out easier than this one did...seemed to have made it more complicated than was neccessary...giant chunk of ash is hard to work with >_<
